Globe Unity Orchestra - Berlin 1986

Alexander von Schlippenbach's Globe Unity Orchestra is one of the longest living large band projects in free jazz. Here they are in Berlin, at roughly half of their run so far (I hope it will continue for another while!), incorporating the usual mix of musicians from Europe, the US, and Japan as well.

This comes from the same edition of the JazzFest that also yielded the 20th Anniversary album for FMP (recorded Nov. 4).

Well, I don't know what's the reason for MP2 files... what I do know is that they are the original file format of digital satellite radio broadcasts, and it makes more sense to pass on these files (which are 48 kHz files) in their original format, rather than compress them to 44.1 kHz (FLAC, WAV) and at the same time make them 2-3 times bigger in filesize!

thanks very much for that and for not taking my curiosity as veiled complaint as is the more common response to such questions.

thanks again for making this available. hearing globe unity live is an incredible experience. i attended a different performance in berlin and this recording refreshed the memory of it.
