This wraps up the Freddie Hubbard tribute here... and it again nicely fits the great drummers theme (see previous post), this time with the great Elvin Jones present! The concert was done in memory of John Coltrane, and with Tyner/Workman/Jones, the 1961 rhythm section of Coltrane's classic quartet is present here. Hubbard of course worked with Coltrane both on "Olé Coltrane" and on "Ascension". Sonny Fortune worked with Miles in the seventies and does his best filling the big gap left by Coltrane...

One last "thank you" for all the great Freddie shows....
Charles
You're welcome, chayjazz!
yes, thank you again for all of these shows, ubu. I can't think of a better tribute to such a giant than to display him in his element, and in such a wide variety of playing contexts as well. we're all lucky that you've posted these!
I´m late on it...nevertheless...THANK YOU for all your great work; best way of remembering Freddie is listening to his music!
This was a great call..Bringing together all these concert/radio recordings on the one page is one hell of a way of reminding folk just what a master of musical drama Mr FH was..Many many thanks.
I'm listening to the Hubbard-Tyner-Jones right right now. What a great experience for those who were there to hear it in person - and, thanks to you, this concert can be enjoyed by many more. Thank you!!
I would like to, just like the others, show my appreciation for this post, ubu. Thank you vey much.
