Carla Bley - Carla's Christmas Carols (Berlin 2008)

Okay, it's this time of the year again, where most people seem to be in even worse mood than usual, have a rush, no time for a casual appointment because they have some stuff going on almost nightly ... and on top of it all, they start playing weird music all over the place ... I've been told though that some people actually do like that stuff ... hard to believe as it is, here is again one of the perennial favourites of this blog, posted before at least twice - and surely some of the most thought-provoking and left-field christmas music you're ever going to hear.

Ubu,
I couldn't get this to play - I got a message saying there's a problem with the file. Know anything about this? Can you try posting in another codec? Thanks, d

This has been downloaded several hundred times ... guess you need to update your codecs then. I don't feel like sharing a decoded/morphed file-set of this - this is how it was digitally "broadcast" and it makes most sense to keep it like that. Hope you can figure it out!

That's makes good sense. I did manage to find a conversion utility. Great music! Thanks.

Glad you understand - and even happier you've found a way to enjoy the music!

Silly that MP2 won't play on the usual devices (ipod, smartphone), but I often just hook up my computer to the amplifier when I play MP2 ... not hi-fi, for sure, but good enough.

Dear friend Ubu
There are so many interesting things on Jazz web that I just download and...some day later I promise myself to hear it.
Well, fortunately I did hear this one now: STUPENDOUS!
On track 02, when Carla makes a fusion between Silent Night & Night and day, she was so lucky on its arragement! Beautiful!
This is one of the fews Christmas recording that I won't delete.
Thanks and congrats for your taste!

Oh, actually I can't stand x-mas music ... Dylan is okay, and yeah, I enjoy The Puppini Sisters, too ... but really, musically, this one's by far the best I know.

There's also an official release of this programme - very much worth getting!
