Here's the third instalment, more from the 1948 band at the Royal Roost. This may not look like a great band, with both Jesse Drakes and Ted Kelly not exactly well-known, but in the rhythm section there's one of the young musicians who's star was to rise bigtime soon after these dates: Roy Haynes! And on all but the first dates, there's Junior Mance on piano.
I'd welcome a bit of discussion and some reactions here, folks! I see there are quite a few downloads of this material, please step out of anonymity for a second and leave a comment if you feel like!
The weekend's instalment will consist of three discs, 4-6, all taken from the same session(s)!

Well done, Ubu Roi! Lester Young was a Master!
Here's the download link, sorry, I must have forgotten to put it up... that explains of course why no one did get the file so far...

greetings ubu, a fine place you have here. in addition to the great music, your photo selection is excellent.
i just discovered you through your comment at cia, and i have two questions. what are you meaning with the tag "for europeans only"? and, could you possibly re-up your lovano scofield holland foster recording? that just has to be killer.
thanks, and i'll be dropping by often.
"For Europeans Only" is two-fold...
First, it's a composition by one of my favourite jazz composers/arrangers, the great Tadd Dameron.
Second, it's about copyrights: 50 years in Europe (70 or 75 in the US), hence all of the material I share under that tag is in public domain over here...
That's all...
(he he, just watched that stupid flick "The Devil Wears Prada" a few days ago... pretty bad film and much too mainstreamish/hollywood-ending-ish, but Ms. Streep ushering that phrase again and again was great!
thanks, and the lovano?
any chance?
I still have the Lovano around, give me some time to put it up again!
absolutely. take your time and do it at your convenience. it was a request, certainly not a demand, and if you didn't do it at all that would be your business and i would still much appreciate your fine site and generous and tasty offerings.
thanks for the great post
still active 9/4/09
Thanks for more Pres stuff man.
Phwoah! Thank YOU, ubu!
